Already purchased your session?

Wait, who's Carolyn?

That's me!

I’m an NASM-certified personal trainer with 14 years of experience, degrees in Nutrition and Psychology, and a background in health & fitness research.

I’ve worked with clients from all walks of life and fitness levels—busy professionals, new moms, retirees, beginners, weekend warriors, and competitive athletes. These days, I prioritize strength & mobility over chiseled abs, and balance & functional fitness over flashy gym lifts.

I firmly believe everyone can reach an exceptional level of fitness—no matter where they’re starting—and I’m here to help you get there.

Train with me, and I'll help you get back to what your body was meant to do: move well, feel strong, and thrive. (And hey, maybe you'll get those abs along the way.)

Not sure if it's right for you?

Working with Carolyn has been nothing short of amazing, and I couldn't be happier with my results. She really takes the time to understand my fitness goals, creates challenging workouts, and effortlessly shares her knowledge on nutrition, anatomy and the science behind the exercises. Also, she’s meticulous in making sure that I’m doing each exercise with proper form. It's clear that she genuinely cares about my progress, and this has been a huge part of my success.

Got some questions? I got answers!

What’s included in each session?

Each session is a full hour of personalized, one-on-one coaching with me.

Your first session starts with a fitness assessment so I can design future workouts that suit your body, lifestyle, and goals. We can round out that session with a mini workout or dive into nutrition and lifestyle guidance—whatever feels most helpful to start.

Ongoing sessions include a challenging workout tailored to you, with real-time form feedback, technique adjustments, and support throughout. If you like, we can also set aside time for nutrition or lifestyle coaching.

While each session is focused on your specific goals, I also weave in elements of strength, mobility, cardiovascular fitness, and balance. This well-rounded approach helps your body move and feel better—not just now, but for the long haul.

Each session builds on the last to support steady, consistent progress.

Just looking for one or two sessions? That’s totally fine too. We can focus on whatever’s most useful—form correction, injury-friendly exercise options, nutrition guidance, or anything else that’ll move you forward.

I want to do sessions at my place. Do I need any equipment?

Short answer: nope! I’ll design your workouts based on what you have access to—even if that’s just a mat and a bit of space. No equipment? No problem. You can get an amazing workout with just your own bodyweight. I can also bring some light equipment to make your program more varied and increase the challenge when you're ready.

I’m a beginner. Is the workout going to be brutal?

Definitely not. I customize each session exactly for you, so it will be appropriate for your fitness level. A good workout should be challenging, not excruciating. I'm all about meeting you where you are and helping you build from there.

What if I need to reschedule?

Life happens. You can reschedule with at least 24 hours’ notice. Just use the link in your confirmation email or reach out directly.

Are your programs made by AI?

Blasphemy! Ok, no one has ever actually asked me this, but I think it would be a valid question, so here's the answer. Nope. Right now AI produces really run-of-the-mill, unidimensional training programs and that's not what I want to offer. The programs that I develop offer a lot more in terms of variety, functional fitness, injury prevention, balance, mobility/flexibility, and overall well-being.

What if I have injuries?

That’s exactly why personalized training is so important! I’ll design your sessions around your needs, and we’ll always prioritize safe movement and smart progressions.

I have a health issue. Will I need my doctor to complete a medical clearance form before I begin?

Right after you sign up you'll be asked to fill out a short health screening form (the Par-Q form) to assess whether you need medical clearance. If you answer YES to one or more questions on the form, then you will need your doctor to complete a Medical Clearance Form for you before you can begin the program. The medical questions on the Par-Q form are as follows:

1) Has your doctor ever said that you have a heart condition or high blood pressure?

2) Do you feel pain in your chest at rest, during your daily activities of living, OR when you do physical activity?

3) Do you lose balance because of dizziness OR have you lost consciousness in the last 12 months? Please answer NO if your dizziness was associated with over-breathing (including during vigorous exercise).

4) Have you ever been diagnosed with another chronic medical condition (other than heart disease or high blood pressure)?

5) Are you currently taking prescribed medications for a chronic medical condition?

6) Do you currently have (or have had within the past 12 months) a bone, joint, or soft tissue (muscle, ligament, or tendon) problem that could be made worse by becoming more physically active? Please answer NO if you had a problem in the past, but it does not limit your current ability to be physically active.

7) Has your doctor ever said that you should only do medically supervised physical activity?

If you answer YES to one or more questions on the form:

Step 1: Download the fillable PDF Medical Clearance Form HERE

Step 2: Tell your doctor which questions you answered with a "YES" on the PAR-Q and ask them to complete the Medical Clearance Form.

Step 3: Email the completed Medical Clearance Form to carolyn@carolyntrains.ca (to protect your private health information please password-protect the form before sending, and send me the password in a separate email). If your doctor has indicated that your physical activity must be limited in some way, it may not be possible for you to follow the programs in the Free Trial or Essentials Plan. Before signing up for a plan let me take a look at the Clearance Form.

Step 4: If your doctor has indicated that you're cleared for an exercise program with no limitations, go ahead and sign up for a plan! When prompted, answer the medical questions on the Par-Q form truthfully. Once I review your Medical Clearance Form I'll activate your program.

Will Watson be joining our session at the home studio?

Possibly! Watson (my cranky old dachshund) likes to make occasional appearances during training sessions. He especially enjoys assisting with the “dramatic stretching” portion of the workout—which isn’t actually a thing, but he believes it’s critical for success. That said, Watson is also happy to nap in the other room in a sunbeam, and won't mind at all if you'd prefer to keep your private session private.
